Selena Lucchese is slated to be one of six performers for 77 shows in 10 countries

Toronto — Selena Lucchese, a professional dancer from Toronto, has been selected to perform in an upcoming international tour for an acclaimed singer, songwriter, and performer.

The tour, which is promoting the singer’s latest album, kicks off at the end of April and is scheduled for 77 shows across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

“It’s been a childhood dream of mine to work for this artist,” said Lucchese, who is moving to Los Angeles for the opportunity.

Lucchese, 26, has been a professional dancer since she was nine years old. Her training began at just age three with the fundamentals of dance — ballet and jazz — and over the course of her training she’s practiced tap, acrobatics, contemporary, musical theatre. She is now best known for her work in hip-hop dance and choreography.

An accomplished performer, she has worked as a principal dancer on several Disney Channel Original Films: 2018’s “Zombies” as well as its two sequels, and the 2022 musical comedy “Sneakerella.” She also appeared in the 2020 film “My Spy.”

She was hand-picked to dance in the Toronto show of Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable World Tour in 2015, and appeared in Shawn Mendes’ 2018 music video “Believe.”

Lucchese was selected for the tour by Marty Kudelka, a renowned choreographer. She was attending one of his hip-hop workshops when he suggested she would be a good fit for the role.

Kudelka is one of a wide range of choreographers with whom Lucchese has worked in the past. Others include the Emmy award winning Mandy Moore and Travis Wall, as well as Al Blackstone, Christoper Scott, Kenny Wormald, and Misha Gabriel.
